Government Furnished Equipment (GFE)

GFE is property the government provides to a contractor for use in performing a contract. The contractor does not buy it, does not own it, and is responsible for it under FAR Part 45. On a major program, GFE is everything from missile seekers to test cells to office space at a government facility. It complicates everything because the contractor's schedule is hostage to the government's delivery of the GFE. The system has to know what is GFE versus contractor-acquired property at all times.
