Where the Aerospace and Defense Jobs Are Right Now
- Commercial aviation is scrambling to catch up. Airlines want more planes, and Boeing and Airbus still cannot build them fast enough. That pressure runs straight down to suppliers. If you work in structures, quality, or final assembly, you have options. Expect tight scrutiny on every part, because the whole industry is watching safety and rework numbers.
- Defense budgets keep climbing, and so does the hiring. Munitions, missiles, and air defense are the hot programs. Primes and their subcontractors need manufacturing engineers and operators who can scale production, not just build one unit at a time. A security clearance still moves you to the front of the line.
- Space is past the hype and into real work. Launch cadence is up, and satellite builders are shipping hardware on short timelines. Companies want people who ship, not people who study a problem for a year. Propulsion test experience is gold here.
- MRO cannot find enough hands. Older fleets are flying longer, so maintenance, repair, and overhaul shops are desperate for licensed technicians. Pay is rising because the labor shortage is real and not going away soon.
- Unmanned systems are moving from demo to deployment. Drones and autonomy programs now need production and sustainment people, not just R&D. If you can bridge software and hardware, you are hard to replace.
Pick the lane that fits your skills. Every one of these is hiring.
