Aerospace and Defense Hiring: What's Moving Right Now

Here is what we see shaping the job market this quarter. If you build, fly, or fix hardware, this is where the demand sits.

  • Commercial aviation is still catching up. Airlines want more jets, and the backlog runs years deep. That means steady work on assembly lines, quality control, and anyone who can close the gap between orders and deliveries. Fabrication and structures roles are open across the major programs.
  • Defense budgets favor speed. Programs tied to missiles, drones, and electronic warfare are hiring fast. Contractors want engineers who ship working systems, not perfect ones. Clearances move you to the front of the line, so start the process early if you qualify.
  • Space is past the hype and into the grind. Launch cadence keeps climbing, and satellite builders need people who can run production, not just design one-off missions. Propulsion test engineers and avionics techs are hard to find and well paid.
  • MRO cannot hire enough people. Aging fleets mean more inspections, repairs, and overhauls. A&P mechanics and avionics technicians have real leverage on pay and location. If you hold the license, you pick the job.
  • Unmanned systems cross every sector. Companies want operators, software engineers, and test pilots who understand both the aircraft and the mission. This is where new entrants break in fastest.

Pick the lane that fits your skills and move. The hiring is real, and the companies are competing for you.
