Where Aerospace and Defense Hiring Stands Right Now
- Commercial aviation is rebuilding its backbone. Airlines want more planes, and Boeing and Airbus still cannot build them fast enough. That pressure runs down the whole supply chain. If you work in structures, avionics, or production quality, factories need you. Expect strong demand for anyone who can hold a line to spec and keep deliveries moving.
- Defense budgets are funding real programs, not just studies. Hypersonics, missile defense, and next-generation fighters are hiring hard. Clearances matter more than ever, and a current one puts you near the front of the line. Systems engineers and test engineers have their pick of work.
- Space has gone from launch to operations. Rockets fly often enough now that the growth is shifting to satellites, ground systems, and constellations that need daily care. Propulsion and guidance talent stays hot, but software and operations roles are climbing fast.
- MRO cannot find enough hands. Older fleets fly longer, so repair and overhaul shops are short on licensed mechanics and techs. If you hold an A&P, you can name your terms in many markets.
- Unmanned systems are moving from niche to normal. Drones and autonomous platforms now show up in both commercial and defense work. Engineers who understand autonomy, sensors, and flight controls will keep finding doors open.
Pick the lane that fits your skills. The work is there, and it is real.
